School is back in session and the fall weather is here! It’s a perfect weekend to check out one of Ottawa’s oldest areas! While many citizens think Sandy Hill is just for students, there’s plenty to do with your family. Make sure to check out some of these great attractions!
Strathcona Park: Cycle or walk past along the trails on the east end of Sandy Hill. With truly beautiful fall scenery, there’s no better time to visit. Notable attractions include the play structure designed to look like ruins, the Lord Strathcona fountain, and the Odyssey outdoor theatre.
Enjoy the architecture: Sandy Hill is the site of some of the oldest, most intricate, architecture in Ottawa. Explore the Ottawa U campus or stop by the fantastic Laurier House—a world famous heritage home. Located at 335 Laurier Street East, it is filled with history and was home to two of Canada’s former Prime Ministers. Stop by to find out who!
