Getting to Know YOUR Ottawa: Orleans
At the far east end of our great city, lies the section of Orleans. While it may be a little out of your way to get there from central Ottawa, it is well worth the trip. So grab your car keys and take a short trip to the friendly neighbourhood of Orleans this weekend.
Proulx Maple and Berry Farm: In the winter you can get delicious maple syrup toffee from this hidden gem of Ottawa, but in the summer you can get fresh berries. Strawberries, raspberries and garden vegetables are waiting for you! Enjoy a great family friendly day in nature.
Cumberland Heritage Village Museum: Located just on the outskirts of Orleans, enjoy this quaint museum that takes you back to life in the 1920’s and 30s with dozens of heritage reproduced buildings– including a working sawmill and blacksmith forge, heritage breed farm animals, vintage tractor-pulled wagon rides, and much more! The museum is open from May 11 to October 26 on Wednesdays to Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm.
St. Martha’s Brasserie d’Orleans: If you’re looking for good food, look no further than St. Martha’s Brasserie on St. Joseph Blvd. With vegetarian and gluten free options on their fantastic menu, there is something for everyone! During the summer, they use fresh local vegetables from the Ottawa area.
Place d’Orleans: If it’s shopping you’re looking for, Place d’Orleans has a huge selection of shops for you to browse—140 to be exact! If you’re feeling exhausted from your day of shopping, swing by the Second Cup on the first floor for a little jolt.
Enjoy Orleans everyone!
