How to Beat the Heat This Summer – and Not Break the Bank!

Canadian summers are great! Beautiful, sunny, and HOT. In the middle of the summer, it’s tough for us not to crank the AC up all the way but that can lead to a rather expensive energy bill at the end of the month. Here are a few tips to try and conserve energy and your hard earned money:

  1. Use a fan: An overhead or stand up fan can make a big difference in cooling and circulating the air around your room. Make sure to invest in one to use throughout the summer.
  2. Check your windows and doors for leaks: If you’re paying to cool your home, you don’t want the air to just go outside! Make sure to check your windows and doors for any gaps that air can escape through.
  3. Avoid using the stove: On those 30 plus days, use the stove as little as possible. The heat from the stove can raise the temperature in your home by 10 degrees! Use your toaster or bring it outside and make a delicious barbeque feast.

Follow these tricks to help keep you, and your home nice and cool during these beautiful summer months. Enjoy the heat while you can. Next thing you know, we’ll be complaining about the snow!
